Sometimes a single sentence speaks more than a long story. At least if you're not completely clueless and can read the message and not just the words. Signatures on relevant mailing lists and newsgroups, on the other hand, are nice for spreading such nuggets. But I've gradually cut down on my FOSS mailing list (and IRC) presence to almost zero, unable care anymore, and tired of fighting with the assholes populating them (with anyone who might agree with me always staying quiet under peer pressure). Therefore, here is the collection of signatures from my small Linuxwake upcampaign. To think about.

In 1995, Linux was almost a bicycle; an alternative way of live to the Windows petrol beasts that had to be taken to the dealer for service.
By 2008, Linux has bloated into a gas-guzzler, and the cycle paths have been replaced with polluted motorways.

Alternatively: By 2008, Linux has bloated into a gas-guzzler, and local vendors and artisans have had to yield to “all under one roof” big box hypermarkets.
